You opened up your house and heart Without question that you care Reminding me of my bad posture And the consequence of soggy hair You laughed with me about my height Or as you’d say ‘the lack of it’ Unable to reach the cups for tea Or hang up my dripping kit You were there through all the darkness When the whole world felt so mean You taught me it was ok For my sadness to be seen You held me close and whispered That it would all be fine You helped me see there was more light And that I’d get there given time The sadness hits us all now And the times that you will miss We all have such fond memories But one last chance is all we wish From where you are now resting I hope that you will see Our very special day unfold A much missed, mum in law to be xxx
